Krishnanagar

The newly renovated Church and Presbytery, to which Fr. Amulya Kannanaikal, moved in, was blessed and inaugurated with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Rev. Bishop Nirmal Vincent Gomes at 07.00 am on October 30, 2025. A good number of participants including five priests, about 20 religious sisters and over 200 parishioners participated in the Eucharistic Celebration. The first entry of the Jesuits to Krishnagar Diocese, built up and predominantly managed by the Salesians of Don Bosco, was a response to the invitation by the Bishop of the Diocese. We begin with looking after the pastoral needs of two each of the sub-centres of neighbouring parishes – Chapra (Dompukur and Hrdaypur) and Maliapota (Bethberia and Phulbari). While Fr. Amulya will shepherd the flock of the sub-centres of Chapra parish, Fr. Cyriac Sebastian will care for the sheep of the sub-centres of Maliapota Parish.
