St. Xavier’s School, Kolkata
St. Xavier’s Collegiate School is a Catholic school in Kolkata. It is managed by Calcutta Jesuit Province. The school is named after its patron, St. Francis Xavier (1506–1552), a 16th-century Jesuit missionary. It was established on 16 January 1860 by a group of Belgian Jesuits led by Father Henry Depelchin for the education of Catholic boys, though it now admits students of all religious denominations. Affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) for the ICSE and ISC curricula up to Class XII and recognized by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education up to Class X, the school offers English-medium instruction from kindergarten (LKG) to Class XII. Renowned for its academic excellence, St. Xavier’s Collegiate School was ranked #4 among India’s top boys’ day schools in the Education World India School Rankings 2025-26.
